Tesla roadside assistance is a warranty product, not a public price list. While you’re inside Tesla’s Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty, dispatch is usually included. After that window, Tesla bills the visit. A local Inland Empire operator quotes a mobile charge on a separate bill. That’s the real answer to how much Tesla roadside assistance costs. Tesla’s public support pages don’t publish a 2026 fee card we could confirm. Check the Tesla app, or Tesla’s support site, before you accept a tow. The operator who takes the job sets their own quote before they start.
Tesla’s desk and a local quote aren’t the same product
Tesla’s roadside line sits inside the car’s warranty. Local mobile charging is a different job. Mixing them is how people get a flatbed they didn’t need.
When the pack is empty, Tesla’s usual move is a tow. The truck aims at a Supercharger or a Tesla Service Center. Tesla’s published support pages don’t describe on-site Level 2 charging as the standard fix. A local mobile charge works the other way. The operator brings a 240V Level 2 source to the car. Teslas take a native NACS plug. Other EVs use a CCS or J1772 adapter. Charging time is typically 15 to 30 minutes. That usually adds about 10 to 20 miles of range. That clock is charging time. It’s never an arrival time.
Charge Pro IE doesn’t own trucks or a yard. We match stranded drivers with independent local operators. Those operators quote you before they start. They bill you directly. Tesla’s desk doesn’t set that number. The pros we connect you with are licensed and insured. We’re not.
What Tesla’s warranty window actually covers
Tesla publishes roadside help as part of the Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty. Tesla’s support pages list four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Your purchase date and model year control that clock. Read the current language on Tesla’s support site. Coverage details change.
Inside that window, Tesla’s own pages list:
- Flat tire help, then a tow if the tire can’t be repaired
- Lockout help, including remote unlock when the system allows it
- Towing when a warranty-covered defect leaves the car inoperable
- Help for a dead 12V battery that won’t wake the car
- Out-of-charge towing, often to a Supercharger or service center, and often at Tesla’s discretion
That last item is the Inland Empire trap. An empty pack isn’t the same as a warrantable breakdown. Tesla may still send a tow. Tesla may also treat depletion as outside the warranty product. We walk through that split in empty pack versus a warrantable stall. For the free-versus-billed version, start with whether Tesla roadside is actually free.
Certified Pre-Owned cars and Extended Service Agreements can rewrite the same list. The contract you signed is the source. Don’t assume the new-car window still applies. A used Model Y in Ontario is on its own clock. So is a CPO Model 3 in Temecula.
Inland Empire stalls aren’t one kind of call
Riverside County has 2,478,600 people on the 2019-2023 ACS. San Bernardino County has 2,197,104 on the same vintage. They don’t share one utility, one grade, or one housing vintage.
Southern California Edison serves most west-valley cities. That list includes Fontana, Ontario, Chino, Upland, Corona, Temecula, and Murrieta. Riverside isn’t on SCE’s city list. Riverside Public Utilities has served the city since 1895. Colton owns the electric system inside its limits. Banning runs a city electric utility. Big Bear Lake and Big Bear City sit on Bear Valley Electric Service. Moreno Valley and Rancho Cucamonga are split. SCE covers most of each city, with a municipal pocket on top. Moreno Valley Utility serves a newer-development slice. Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Utility covers a southeast pocket around Victoria Gardens and nearby tracts. San Jacinto Power and Apple Valley Choice Energy procure generation. SCE still delivers the electrons.
A dark charger in Riverside is often an RPU household. The same night in Fontana is usually an SCE TOU-D-PRIME home. Eastvale is almost all new housing. Only 2.2% of its units were built before 1980. San Bernardino sits at 60.9% pre-1980 stock on the 2019-2023 ACS vintage. Older panels and new-build chargers fail in different ways. None of that tells you Tesla’s bill. It does tell you why a stall here isn’t a simple wait.
Grades eat range on the Cajon climb toward Victorville. I-10 through Colton and Redlands does the same on the rise toward Banning. Beaumont sits on that same I-10 climb. I-215 through Moreno Valley and Perris pulls range on a hot afternoon. SR-60 through Jurupa Valley is another common stall corridor. So is the 91 through Corona. The Ortega near Wildomar is a grade that eats miles. High Desert miles around Adelanto, Phelan, and Hesperia add distance after Cajon. Mountain roads into Lake Arrowhead, Crestline, Running Springs, and Big Bear do too. Warehouse rows in Fontana and Ontario strand work Teslas after long shifts. New Eastvale streets stall cars when a house circuit isn’t live yet. Downtown Riverside lots stall cars after a long day parked. Name the road when you call. That’s how a local operator finds you.
Empty pack: Tesla’s tow versus a quoted Level 2 visit
If the high-voltage pack is empty, Tesla’s published path is usually a flatbed. Tesla generally doesn’t send a mobile charger. Confirm that on Tesla’s current support pages. A local operator’s out-of-charge recovery is the other product. They charge where the car sits. You drive off with enough range to reach a charger you pick.
Charge Pro IE doesn’t publish a fee. We also couldn’t confirm a Tesla 2026 dispatch fee. Tesla’s public pages don’t list a per-mile rate we can cite. Don’t guess from a screenshot. Ask Tesla in the app for their current bill. Ask the local operator for a quote before they plug in. Who sets the price on a mobile charge walks through that split.
A tow still makes sense after a crash. It also fits a seized drive unit, or a car that won’t roll. A Level 2 visit fits when the car is fine. The pack is just empty.
Heat and grade change how fast that pack falls. Inland summer afternoons cook cabins on the 215. The Cajon climb uses energy you planned for Victorville. A long Fontana warehouse shift can drain accessory power. The work Tesla then sits dead in the lot. None of those stories invent a dollar figure. They explain why the warranty desk and a local quote exist side by side.
Dead 12V: the stall that looks like a dead Tesla
Teslas still have a 12V battery. It wakes the computers and closes the high-voltage contactors. When that battery dies, the car looks fully dead. Doors, screens, and drive can all refuse to play.
Tesla may send a tech to jump that 12V. They may replace it under the warranty product. Out of warranty, Tesla bills that visit. We couldn’t confirm Tesla’s current 12V dispatch price from a public fee schedule. The local alternative is a Tesla 12V jump from an independent operator. The operators we connect you with handle Tesla and every major EV brand. They quote first. They can jump or replace a dead 12V on site.
Don’t treat a 12V jump as a pack charge. Different problem, different truck.
Flat tires, lockouts, and the jobs Tesla still owns
Tesla’s roadside product is built around tire service, lockouts, and warranty tows. Local mobile chargers aren’t tire shops. They aren’t locksmiths. If the issue is a nail, call Tesla or a tire shop. A dead phone key is Tesla’s lockout path. If the pack is empty, ask for a quoted Level 2 visit. If the 12V is silent, ask for a jump.
Tesla’s usual tire path is a repair or a tow. Many Teslas don’t have a spare anyway. We couldn’t confirm Tesla’s 2026 tire-service price. Ask them when you open the ticket.
How to decide who to call from the shoulder
Start with the symptom, not the badge on the trunk. Car is silent, no screens, doors acting dead: think 12V. Car wakes, shows zero miles, won’t move: think empty pack. Tire is flat or shredded: Tesla or a tire shop. You’re locked out: Tesla remote unlock first. Crash or a mechanical failure: flatbed, not a charger.
For who actually shows up here, read our local Tesla roadside comparison.
If you want a quoted on-site charge or a 12V jump, call (909) 250-2881. We’ll connect you with a local operator. That operator quotes before starting. Charge Pro IE doesn’t promise an arrival time. We don’t set the price. We don’t perform the work.
